The first situation happend long time ago. The last - this week.
The race update was somehow bugged, so the it had to be started again.
After the second update managers got different proposals for conract length and value from the same sponsor, in effect of the same result.
I can understand that some small random effect has to be included into the game, but in those cases the differences were about few millions $
Should the sponsor formulas random factor be that high? I guess no!

tell me about it, on second reset one of my sponsor negotiating at 94.8 % with 2 races to go to sign up and challenged at 83 % decided to sign with some one else. contrat was worth for 24 races about 28Million. so Tomek I should have more basis of a complaint don't I?

Quote ( Tomek Kiełpiński @ February 15th 2019,11:32:48 ) Should the sponsor formulas random factor be that high? No. Particularly for new players, struggling through tens of races of sponsor negotiation questions, trying to get the right answers to get the sponsor on side and fight off rivals, only to have the sponsor's worth determined by luck, is in my opinion very bad.

There are ways to guarantee consistent offers with less randomness from sponsors but comes with quite a big downside I don’t think you’d like.

Nope. Sorry for you, but your case is about other managers conegotiating and decsion you have taken.
Mine is about loosing millions just by bad luck.

Hmmm... intresting. So you're saying that the way the negotiations were approached has caused this effect?

I don't think the negotiation progress was affected by the second update. Therefore if you saw it happen at a later point, it's probably because the other manager had to manually accept the sponsor contract (for example because the spot on his car was still occupied until last race).

The same thing happened to me. After the update at the end of the race, 2 sponsors offered me for 27 and 24 races respectively, but after the update notification everything changed...the first sponsor offers me a contract only for 22 races, the second one only for 19. This difference makes no sense unless there is a high random amount in the formula....or could it be a bug?

Yep. My hunch is that most people at higher levels of the game and in knowledgebale teams are following the same script for sponsor answers, possibly without really understanding it. Answering certain questions in certain ways gives you a chance of higher amounts and longer durations. But like some other things in the game theres a variance in a range if you get me.
Like driver errors in practice or, say, motivation decrease with fitness training. You will get a random result within a certain range. Sponsors are like this too.
SO I think this is consistent with other parts of the game and certainly not a bug. If that range might be too big is a matter of opinion, but no bugs here I don't think.

Maybe, send the complaint to yourself.
