Quick and probably easy question here, but I want to be 100% sure of this one :)

Can you drive quali 2 with soft tyres, and then start the race with rain tyres (without pitting, off course)?

Thx

will post my question here, so we do'nt have too much unnecessary topics after a while.

if you setup in your race settings tyres when raining: soft. and pitting when raining after 3 rounds. what will the driver do in race???

will he come in after 3 laps to change his tyres to other softs or will he stay out on the tyre set he is racing with and stay sticked to the pit strategy???

My question about this strategy:

Tyres at the start: RAIN
When it rains: RAIN
When the track is dry: SOFT

wait to pit if it starts raining: 0 laps
wait to pit if it stops raining: 0 laps

The weather is dry when the race starts, but I think it starts raining very soon. But what the driver will do with those orders? Will he pit immediately after the start and get soft tyres and then pit again when it starts raining? Or will he do as I want: stay out with his rain tyres waiting for rain.

he will stay on wets! from the start until the first stop when he will decide what tyres to go on according to the weather!

Is it because it starts raining just after the start, or is it raining at the start?

I thought that with these orders if it starts raining on 3 lap you will start on wet, change on 1 lap and than change on 3.

the trigger is the change in weather, so if u r already on wets the driver wont stop to change to wets!

Jari,
You may not know it but this is what we (the oldies) call a Whiting start©
©hris Withing won a race for doing such a start by mystake and become famous for that and many other things :))
Anyway in some special case it's a very good tactic and it can work the other way around : start with Dry tyre on a wet track.
However rain tyres loose around 5 sec/lap on dry tarck while dry tyre on wet track loose around 10 sec/lap.
So draw the righ conclusions from this hint ;)

For clarity the order you give to your pilot is base on the tyre mounted on the car.
If you have wet tyre mounted on a dry track.
You set-up wet tyre when it rains and the weather condition changes from dry to wet,.
The pilot follow your order wich is use rain tyre.
As they are already on your car no pit occurs.

I´m a bit confused here.

If I start on RAIN and it is DRY will my driver pit after the first lap? NOTE the 0 laps waiting time!

And then a pitstop again if it starts raining on lap 3.

@Henrik: nope, he won't becouse it was dry on the start so it doesn't matter, he have set to change tyres when it stops raining but it didn't stop becouse it didn't start to rain yet.

NOTE the 0 laps waiting time!

All tyre changes happen with 2 conditions.
either
condition<1>. your tyre are burn out -> pit
or
condition<2>. the weather changes.
or both condition<1> & condition<2>

For condition<2> we have explained it at length (see above)

Now what confuse you is another startegic parameter that allows you to hold your tyre change due to condition<2> for X laps.

Let say that it's dry you have dry tyre and it start raining but only for one lap!
If you have this parameter set to 0 your pilot will enter to pit twice, Once for wet then back for dry tyre.
if you would have had 1 he will not enter the pit at all !
As weather condition changes but you said to hold one lap, then weather condition changes again but you already have the right type of tyre. so NO pit.
Unless to confuse you your tyre just get burn out at the second weather change :P

However this situation is very much unpredictable with the meteorolical information we get. So it's pretty much by chance that this parameter would help your strategy.

I have one more stupid rethorical question. If it rains almost whole race then 20 laps before end it stops, won't track be wet so rain tyres are going to still be better to use than dry even if it doesn't rain anymore ? ;p

In Gpro the track instantly wet or dry as soon as wheater changes.

But this could be an inetresting change to the game.
Having the track drying slowly.
Then the set-up parameter hold your rain tyres for X lap would become strategic.
But only if we would have a way predict how soon is the track dry again.
Factors could be: the heat, humidity percentage, number of cars on the track
