Here comes 4th season of GPRO Strategist. Last season can be found here: /gb/forum/ViewTopic.asp?TopicId=18058#scroll
POLL QUESTION
I figured that there is little more I can include in this format and I have some ideas on this game, but I want your opinions. Vote on the poll and send me a PM with your preference. If any of 2nd or 3rd option wins, I'll work on it for Season 5.
1st option: Staying like it is. Self explaining. 2nd option: Lean towards F1. It would include formula 1 teams which would recruit managers by their past results. There would be varying stats for teams, for example:
Red Bull:
Qualifying 5/5 Race pace 3/5 Pitstops 4/5
Mercedes:
Qualifying 3/5 Race pace 3/5 Pitstops 5/5
and so on. This is just an example, there would be more stats that would affect race overall.
3rd option: Lean more towards GPRO. In this case, I would include 5 practice laps for everyone to find the best possible setup, Q1 without fuel, Q2 with fuel, all around risks (Push a little/A lot/To the Limit/Keep car on track, for qualy, starting risks, which could give you a few positions at start, but with a risk of a crash, overtaking and defending risks which would boost chances to overtake/defend for possible spins) and so on.
NEWS
To keep this game dynamic, I will try to include new features every season. This time around, the new features are in weather,
1. Fuel Consumption. Fuel consumption will vary from track to track. It's up to you to find out how. 2. Tyre wear. Tyre Wear will vary from track to track. It's up to you to find out how. 3. Bad tyres. They will effect your speed more and more with each lap wobbling unlike previous seasons. 4. Changing weather races. There will be no more of them. 5. Team Cup. All teams will participate in a cup (format will depend on number of teams) 6. If we get to 32 managers, which is unlikely, there will be two groups.
BASICS
Basically this game is simplified GPRO, where strategy is only important factor. No randoms, no spins, no random weather, and as this will be all about strategy, no overtaking. Also, this does NOT require your real GPRO race strategy and races will be held in different tracks. Season is 10 races long. 1 or 2 Races per week depended on how people will vote.
Qualify
Starting positions will be decided from your starting tyres and fuel choise.
Race Pace
Race pace is calculated from "Perfect pace" witch is E.Soft tyres, 0 fuel and 0 pitstops. (It's impossible to achieve that).
For example in track where you use 2 litres per lap and 80 litres reduces your pace by 1 second per lap: E.Soft tyres and 50 litres at start. Your race time is tyre disadvantage to best tyre (0 in this example) plus fuel disadvantage to 0 fuel (50+(50-(2*20))/2/80*20=7.5s.
Pitstops
Pitstops happen when you don't have enough fuel or tyres for another lap.
Pitstop time depends on fuel you add to the car. If you need to make additional pits after you made your last sheduled pit, you'll refuel to the fuel amount for last pit.
Scoring system
Scoring system is the same as in GPRO
TEAMS
Two players per team. In case of two groups, teammates HAVE to be in the same group.
Team orders: Never let through/Let through if either of us is still to pit/always let through.
WHAT DO I NEED TO DO TO RACE?
Just send me a message with tyre and fuel choise. For example:
Soft tyres and 80/80/80 litres of fuel.
There are 5 tyre compounds: E.Soft, Soft, Medium, Hard and Rain. Harder compounds are slower, but they last longer.
Fuel is from 10L to 180L.
Data storage
If you want to win, you should store a bit of data. For example if you use 240 litres of fuel in low fuel using track, you can count your fuel consumption and be ready when another low fuel consuming track comes.
JOINING
People who are in post 2 needs to post ##Confirm and new people should post ##Join.
Hoping for a fun season.
Any questions might be asked at any time.

Got a PM that I should keep this separate from GPRO cause there shouldn't be two similar things. I would like to say that I can't actually make anything similar to gpro in my excel, but what I am suggesting in that 3rd option is that you could overtake in races and balance risks (qualy, start and race). 3. 3 what? If that is a vote for 3rd option, then you have to join first and send it to me via PM.

Season is 10 races long. 1 or 2 Races per week depended on how people will vote. That's actually 1 race per week not 1 or 2.

Expected a slightly bigger interest. One new person in comparison to >10 in last season. Hopefully we'll get some more. :)

If you implemented this, are you saying that if you are racing for red bull you have better qualifying than the rest of the managers?
Also is there any chance we could have a test race with the leaning towards GPRO and F1 to see if we like it??

I haven't created anything from it yet and thought about creating the one which wins, but a test race with basics could be arranged.Quote ( Simon Lyus @ September 11th 2011,15:59:32 )

##reserve RAM Reserve? For who?
Also, really disappointed about count of new players, one at the moment.

maybe it's an idea that players must use two different compounds of Tyres for the race.

maybe it's an idea that players must use two different compounds of Tyres for the race. I don't really like the idea, ideal strategy for most races would be esofts at start and hards till the end of it.
Also, if anyone cracks this season tyre wear and fuel usage formulas quickly, that guy, my friends will be genius.
