Tragic thing to happen. RIP Marco.
Thought also with Colin Edwards and Rossi, they must feel terrible but this was clearly nobody's fault.

I have never felt so upset about someone from a sport dying. Marco was a true great up and coming star. I came online just to say this...
I was shocked when I heard this... R.I.P. Marco..

I'm not usually one to care, but why have people been disliking posts so far (except Nazir's)? You have to be pretty sick in the head to be happy at someone's death.
Absolutely devastated tbh, 2 great talents taken in a week. Black livery next races again for me. RIP Marco Simoncelli.

I dont know what to say indeed. I was his big fan and I loved him. He was so talented. I still cant believe it :(
But lately so much tragic events are happening in the world of MotoGP so I think is time to check the security level of this sport.

In a forum where the demographic consists mainly of motor racing aficionados, separate threads about significant events in motor racing, as which a driver's/rider death will always qualify, are entirely justified.

Wow :( Things always seem to come so close together :( Like Ratzenberger and Senna's double whammy at Imola '94, and when Henry Surtees died, so nearly did Felipe Massa on the same week in 2009. This i just unbelievable, he was a great rider, and I am sure he would have been a champion in the future :( Such a great loss to racing, he was a great rider and its sad to see him gone :( I will wear blac livery in retrospect of his life :( R.I.P Marco Simoncelli

I'm really sad today... young, talented and aggressive rider, funny personality and one of the best ones from his generation. Rest in peace SuperSic...

I totall yunderstand if a mod chooses to edit this but I have total respect for the situation & below is no way meant to have any gore/shock value.

The particular photo in question is about half way down the article & just goes to show that poor Marco stood little chance of surviving.
RIP Sideshow Bob as BBC referred to him. Your skill & extravagance will be missed & hopefully now the 'dangerous' tag gained earlier this season will be forgotten.
The whole world just seems to be filled with negative forces at the moment.

So many things there... I guess I'm in shock that it happened, how could his helmet come off? How come the track marshalls took so long? How come Rossi didn't stop?
Really though I guess none of that matters. A great rider and character is dead and his family are hurting more than any fan could.
I can only hope they can somehow get through this.
Forget about the questions. Sympathy to the family.

My thoughts are especially with Rossi. They were very close friends. Rossi must be absolutely devastated.
