Quote ( Eduardo Sanchez Carenzo @ April 5th 2022,17:07:47 ) This topic dicusses if there should be politics allowed in the forum, not any political issue.
Fair point. I made a half hearted effort to stay within the "frame" of the topic.
Quote ( Eduardo Sanchez Carenzo @ April 5th 2022,17:07:47 ) This is a good reason why politics should not be allowed.
In general, yes, but in current form, (the warning text in the one topic) and the extraordinary situation, i think it should be allowed.

Quote ( Roland Jakobsson @ April 5th 2022,17:06:43 ) However, the way I see it the GPRO decision of "neutrality" on the Ukraine issue is a political statement in itself and therefore I think there has to be a place within the game to discuss this. There is a difference between being "neutral" and saying that this isn't the place to be discussing the issues involved. Most of what is discussed is likely to be arguments about whose preconceived/misconceived ideas are more believable in any case.

Why are there multiple clearly politicised threads on the war in Ukraine?
Because the forum is poorly administered. Just because you might see more than one thread, doesn't justify a desire for it among the community. Yes, it might be a popular discussion for some people because of course it is a very current issue, but that doesn't mean 'everyone' wants to have it, or more of it, shoved in their faces. Last time I checked the Ukraine thread, there were only about a half dozen people regularly "commenting". That's quite a small number, and shows that actually most people would just rather such discussions did not take place.
/gb/Stats.asp?type=mostignored#scroll
65 people on the other hand have ignored it already. A month old topic is already among the top 50 most ignored. Perhaps that statistic alone tells us all we need to know. I imagine at some point it will also pass the number of ignores for the "are you drunk" topic. At least, I would expect it to...
By the way, this isn't to say people are not at all interested in such topics, just that they'd rather not come here for it.
I don't get what you're trying to say. The Ukraine threads haven't been administrated properly therefore they can exist but other threads covering different topics can't? I just don't see why you have a problem with people ignoring threads they don't want to engage with. People don't comment on threads merely because they exist. If the status quo is maintained, it is inevitable that sooner or later there will be some equally contentious political event that will happen that people are going to talk about, and now the precedent has been set that if a topic is so widespread that it will not be moderated, where is the line going to be drawn?

Who said I was woke?
No one, not even me.
I agree with Graham and Roy. As tempted as I am to get political here, it's best to keep politics in the political social sites.
I think the existence of the Ukranian threads and how they've been handled shows this is no longer possible. Also I don't think most political discourse happens on sites that are purely political. I understand the need to keep your politics and your personal life seperate (something I take umbrage with in professional sports), but this wouldn't be an issue here.

But it would be an issue here, trust me.

Quote ( Mattias Svensson @ April 5th 2022,16:40:43 ) On the same basis as you don´t need to hear people like Navalnyj investigating and disclosing the uncomfortable truth about the ways of the leadership of your country? People with good background, means people who stay out of contact with the uncomfortable truths? Like an ongoing war.. that could be interesting to discuss. But how much people knows about Navalniy much? 99% of Europeans never heard of 99% of his actions (good or bad both). So I don't believe in a constructive dialogue. It's the same like I started to talk about Hunter Biden. It can be related to Ukraine btw, but I don't know much of it, I can't talk reasonedly enought. I even don't sure that Americans knows about it well. So Navalniy, I know about him pretty much, so I even don't feel that it would be interesting to me to disscuss his person here with people who's just makes crazy theories and trust concerned parties (in Ukrainian thread this people are active). People here can be wrong from both sides, but it's not the reason to hate each other. But they do. Gpro community was always one of the greatest part of this game, we can't allow ourselves to brake it.

I think that should be seen in the light of how powerful his enemies are. How many percent of the "bad" stories/facts about him is fabricated by them?
EDIT I realize some very disturbing things are from his own narrative.
Out of respect for the forum rules, I will refrain from further political discussion, even if i find the topics very interesting.
Thanks for responding to my post, Alex.

Serhiy, Alexei
There is a specific thread for this, please post there and stick to the discussion that is inidcated here.
The question is should politics be allowed in GPRO?
No politics should be dicussed here.
Again one of the reasons why Politics should stay out.

A completely open discussion can only open some people's minds to new perspectives, and only then can they form their own opinions. There are far too many people living in echo chambers these days. Anyone who disagrees with a comment can easily give it the thumb down (I'll probably get a bunch of those here). Also, if anyone thinks the entire discussion crosses a line they can't tolerate, they can exercise their own personal ultimate judgement of the thread with one simple click of the ignore button.

If you think that by entering your "comfort zone" and quoting someone there, you will be able to end the war - you are deeply mistaken! War will find you anywhere! And then you will regret your position today!

The real question is...
Should Elon Musk buy GPRO shares and add an edit button for car upgrades?

Yes, and he should also give redo's if our race outcome was not as expected.

I don´t think calling this war politics, is right...
Despots and dictators don´t really use political rules, they make demands, they make orders, have people arrested/killed on a whim.... sometimes using politics as a smokescreen. But that has really nothing to do with real politics, just "more power" to the dictator.
When a sovereign country is run by an individual and attacks another sovereign country, it´s not really politics, but an act of a dictator...
Therefore, discussing this one way murderous aggression, is a war crime discussion and not a political discussion.
This isn´t like discussing "Trump" or the "Maga" idiots, this is discussing and condemning bloody mass murder, perpetrated by the attacking force.
And, worrying about hurting some completely propaganda brainwashed Russian feelings, isn´t really at the top of my list... i´m sorry.
At the same time, my hat is off to any Russian, capable of seeing through the propaganda.
Maybe i´m talking out of my arse here, but I find it offensive to make an equivalence between a discussion about real politics and talking about people getting mass murdered in their own home, by some flipping POS invaders.
There is NO comparison imo.

@Atli Thor Johannesson (A23) the very fact you think the situation is so black & white, so unambiguously "good vs evil", thats very political
But I dont want to discuss that, I also think we better keep these out the forums, or at least contained. You should have posted that on the appropriate thread
