just have a crazy idea and would like to share with u;

a manager who have 5 consecutive seasons with same tyre, will get a discount as from the 6th season or something.

comments, please.

That would mean that Jed Lilly would only be paying £1.27 a race for his tyres :-p

lol

about the suggestion, it seems valid to me...it would add slightly more strategy to the tyre selection
can't think of a downside other than the "it's unfair for the new promoter" argument, which is valid as well

it it's to be implemented imo it would have to be done in a different way than how it's specifically suggested

-There would be uproar if any tyre stats changed in any off season
-it would be an advantage to anyone who had been up in pro or above for a long time - disadvantaging newly promoted amateurs.

What about the forever-Pipirelli managers, they would get to pay crumbs for their tyres, like Keri said above? Any manager relegated from Pro would suffer because of this.

even so, as an amateur you're forced to use pippis. When you hit pro, you cannot realistically pick pippis. As such as soon as you hit pro, you'd have to wait 6 seasons before you could take advantage of this...not to mention anyone hitting elite who may want to use an expensive tyre for 1 season only.

Promoting managers generally need certain advantages over the field in order to be competitive since they generally cannot promote with similar levels car/driver etc. This would give an advantage to established managers over promoting managers, as such I am forced to be against it.

I would imagine it being implemented for pro, master & elite managers rather than rookie and amateur. He who chooses to represent one tyre manufacturer gets a discount after each two seasons of use. Something like that.

I like the suggestion.

How about implementing it for just Master and Elite? Also, have the discount apply on your second season rather than your fifth to have it be effective to more expensive tyres as well. And then we could even have a reset, so once your "2-season contract" is finished you would have to start over again to mix it up a little. :)

this bit sounds interesting and to build up on it ...

managers can commit to a certain tire brand for between 2-3seasons with a discount for example 5% and 7.5% off for 2 and 3yrs respectfully

and the manager has option to cancel contract early if they want at lets say 2-3 times the amount they would have saved through the discount so if they would of saved $3mil over the course of the contract it would cost between $6-9 mil to cancel

thats the risk :)

the contract would be based the price at signing

edit
and maybe the penalty could be based on what would of been the remaining savings multiplied by 3 or so and it would be up to the manager on whether its worth it or not to cancel the congract

also perhaps the rates could also change from season to season

Finance, Planning, Changing tyre characteristics, breaking top 10 etc

I mean come on its hard enough as it is to break Elite, This would just make it tougher to get to the top. The recent driver change was to allow more to get to the top. As Sion says there would be uproar if any tyre characteristics were changed during any off season as someone who had signed up to yokos @ 1.5m for the next 3 seasons then bang a new tyre gets introduced at 1.2m or duns get reduced etc.

You get the picture. This season in pro tyre selection has been pretty decent in my eyes. Duns have been the superior tyre thus far and im sure alot more without any changes will change back to this tyre being the daddy in pro again.

I believe every level should give managers a better headache with tyres. More selections, more often than not each lvl has a superior tyre from the outset.

So not that VIP membership should allow us a financial benefit but rather

Tyre selections are not known to your fellow competitors until qualifying is closed 90 mins before race 1 and more tyre choice at each lvl. Maybe even Amateur lvl to stop ppl making so much money.

I think it may of been Sion that mentioned about 2 diff tyre selections for each lvl. With very varied stats. That would make it much more appetizing.

No, it was to allow promoting masters to survive in Elite and make it more competitive not allowing more people to make Eilite. The same amount of people have been promoted to Eilite for 31 seasons with slight variations.

Yes, this is true. Admins wouldn't be able to change tyre characteristics or cost. If they did there would be outrage.
