If people are going to post nonsense arguments like that or like "It may be a bad decision but if their goal was to sign a 30 year old brazilian then it's a good decision" then I certainly will call them on it

dude, it doesn't help if you don't even try to understand the point. You're better than that.

You are right, I don’t know your way of thinking, but it’s your self-confidence in it that makes me laugh.

Your attempt to judge a forum user based on one thread does not make me laugh, but it does raise an ironic smile.

Quote ( Emeric Moisan @ October 17th 2012,15:30:34 )

have you any idea how thoroughly Ferrari managment have thought about this particular issue ?

On the available facts I would say they have tried to think about it a great deal, have spent too much time chasing their tales and have arrived at an atrocious conclusion - drivers who underperform for 3 years can be expected to underperform the next year; that is simple fact. Ferrari have decided to ignore this and yes I would say that they have made a bad decision in doing so - whatever their reasoning.

Quote ( Emeric Moisan @ October 17th 2012,15:30:34 )

Because you may say that each one of your comment specifically refers to an argument, I’m pretty sure this first statement does not.

It refers to the action of signing Massa - so my point stands; it does not attack a person; it attacks a stance or a position.
Quote ( Emeric Moisan @ October 17th 2012,15:30:34 )

I was attacking your stated position

No, you were not - you were and continue to attack

Quote ( Emeric Moisan @ October 17th 2012,15:30:34 )

the way you put it out

There is an obvious distinction between attacking a position and attacking the person. Attacking the way someone phrases something is closer to attacking the person - it most certainly is not attacking the position, which you have only very vaguely approached.

Now I would ask that you stop debating me and start debating the issue, or kindly refrain from commenting further. I have no interest whatever in debating my debating style - if you can't take the heat get out of the kitchen.

For me it’s just as if you said that Ferrari managment was idiots… well, I’m a Ferrari supporter and (I know that sounds stupid but…) I felt attacked by it.

Bump

Just wondering if the last few races of this season (the last 2 in particular) have changed some of the opinions in this thread, can Massa be a constant back-up for Alonso's campaign next season or even get a flying start and become the teams main hope?

Well I thought he was a bit disappointing in the early stages, but Massa has a great amount of Charisma and on top of this he seems to be re-gaining his 2008 talent, slowly yes, but I can see him getting his act together and to be honest, I can't wait to see what he can do in 2013, considering Ferrari got 2nd in the constructors and have a bit more in terms of budget because of this.

If Massa can keep momentum going from the last 3 races into the '13 season, he will contend for wins, maybe even a ride somewhere else for '14.

I'm not necessarily a fan of Massa, or Alonso, but if any team is going to stop Red Bull domination, it won't be them because Ferrari will find some way to vomit on their own faces by some BS call mid-race.

do you really believe that Ferrari would let this happen? I sincerely hope it does, but I can't see Ferrari not deciding to back Alonso a bit more after this season's consistency. If they give him a slightly better car, they know he will win them the title. It's not clear yet that Massa will.

Not really. They have Vettel in front of them with a magnificent Red Bull and with the 1st place in the constructors standings they'll surely improve their car even more.
I don't know why but I have that feeling that unfortunately Red Bull will still be one step ahead of Ferrari:(

Sounds like with the new engine rules coming in Hamilton has made a great move. The backroom staff that Mercedes have brought in over the season to develop this car pushes them into one of the top teams for development.
Hamilton for the title next season, Kimi second.

Yeah, but that's for the 2014 season, next season they're still using the V8s and Mercedes are behind in this case. They'll need to do a lot of work before the new rules come into play...

Is good for Alonso to have somebody who qualifies better, so as to advance a position in the grid whenever necessary for race line. (or to cover his butt) Massa's career is already ruined
