I know the current engine supposedly would not be to kind on such a long lap race but I do wonder if the new engine in development with its sections would be better, I personally would love a Le Mans & old Nurburgring even the isle of man track.
I would not want them or these 500 speedway often but I like the odd one thrown in every no and again.
get all the top tracks of Motorsport 4 wheel or otherwise
EDIT: I might not watch a 24 hour race tho, definitely just check the results lol

No different from a puncture after 72 laps in an 80 lap race. or after 54 laps in a 60 lap race, for example.
And fortunately a puncture is a true random so the impact on current sponsors is minimal.

I was first with 26 laps left with the biggest lead in racing history ;) , my engine started to smoke. In the last corner i was passed by one car. Finished 2nd. So much fun an exciting, to bad it wasnt 199 laps :)

Soo much fun. I got a 5th place with 5 stops, whereas all the others were on 3 or 4 stops.
Felt kinda like Shumi in France gp 2004

Definitely fun!
Too bad I couldn't afford complete engine change solely for this race after just one race in the season though.

At 200 laps, there are actually strategy decisions to be made at this race, that alone makes the change feel worth it.
Its no longer just plug in tyre wear and choose the least possible pitstops strategy. Fuel and even TCD can actually have an effect now.
Isnt that a good thing?

This is what ruined it for me, 99% wear on engine after 2 races. Simply cannot afford to change engines 1 race into the calendar.
Otherwise I think it was an interesting change to the game and I think more change should be encouraged.

I actually quite enjoyed watching that race.
Although it wasn't much different from any other race, the strategies that came into play were really interesting to watch. Personally, watching my 3 stop try and fend off two 4-stoppers who were thriving off eachother's slipstream was actually quite tense.
I know a lot of people are pissed at this race. Over half of my teamates got bullshit thrown at them too. But I do think this was a good change. Like MG said somewhere, this race has always been just throw hoever much risks you can at the least possible stops.

That's a fair point although I'd suggest that it's the time for a pit stop that is king at the Indy Oval but it's also nice to see someone actually respond to my question of what does it add.

At 200 laps, it doesn't take much before TCD starts making more pitstops actually the quicker option.
A TCD of merely 0.25 secs now adds up to 50secs over the course of the race for example, coupled with the difference in fuel loads now being much more pronounced between strategies, in cooler races especially, (and likely the higher tiers with their quicker standstill times), things are certainly no longer as cut and dry as they use to be.
Not to mention the very real potential gain from running CT's. What use to not be much of a difference in CT choice as well as wobble times, now can really make substantial differences due to the sheer distance being covered during the race.

This was good race. Finaly here was some strategy in oval. and some possibility to get out of any traffic by using different strategy.

I was a bit esceptical about this race. Ovals are normally races where you know you won't perform if you can't or aren't willing to push. With Indy being at R2, my plan was not to push in order to be able to do both testings and R1 and R2 without replacing the engine.
As such, normally I wouldn't have enjoyed the race and maybe I wouldn't have even watched it. However, it turned out quite different. Despite I didn't perform, as expected, watching the race was quite fun. I don't even know why, because the results, besides smoking and randoms, were basically set after just a few laps. But there was some primitive basic thing that made me enjoy watching the cars at full speed. It was nice.

I really enjoyed it=) even if driver was sick in helmet during lap 133:( losing me 9 finishing positions from 4th....
As has already been stated, it adds a great deal to the game. It was a great event both visually and the length of the show, I look forward to the next and hope 1 or 2 more races are lengthened. It added significantly more depth to strategies as the extra 120 laps impacted a number of variables nicely.

Something I will say though... @admins
Is the chance of random (pure random) decided on a lap-by-lap basis, or race-by-race?
If the first, that could do with being reduced for the longer circuits, or changed.

You have to do your homework before the season start to tackle this kind of economic problems.

The change didn't increase engine wear any higher than what it would've been on the old 80lap race version.
