Hello, I'm a rookie in my first season and, so far, I had a reasonable season, with 13th, 14th, and places like that. I always put the same strategy, apart from the fuel and car setup, and I get the same results. And I was happy with that because it is my first season and I am still learning how to play this game. But suddenly, in the last race (South Africa), I placed 5th. 5th! I was so happy, screaming and dancing around with the realization that I have got my first 4 points. Unbelievable. But then I realized: I must have done something different without noticing... so, my question is, as someone who doesn't know if what I am asking is ridiculous or not, but: what did I change in order to go up by 9 places from one race to another?
PS: I also train my driver every time and I substitute my cars' pieces when they are over 70%

It is possible as it was a wet race that your driver has a high level of a particular attribute

|
Without knowing your driver stats, it could be that your driver is more talented than your oppositions.
Higher talent drivers perform better in wet conditions.

My driver has 241 talent, but his other stats are very low. And I checked the other managers' drivers and have a pretty good driver, but it's not one of the best...

Or maybe you did things like they should be done and many others did some mistake ?
For example others may have started with dry tyres and lost quite a bit of time during their first stint.
Just looking at this: /RaceSummary.asp?group=Rookie+-+42&Season=70&Race=15

3 of the guys who usually finish above you started with dry tyres in rain, by lap 20 they were already 3 minutes behind you
The rest (6) can be explained by strategy and drivers fondness for rain, or the other drivers hating rain

Reasonable season so far (all races dry), suddenly your 5th in this race ... amazing (wet race) and you don’t realise what’s different!!! Lol. Also you say you checked other managers drivers ?? How? That’s secret info you can’t see? Anyway congratulations on your result, great feeling I know, I think you’ve been given enough hints as to what helped you this race :-)

I've been plying this game for 11 years and I still don't know what I've done.

Ok thanks to everyone for the help!!!

Really?? Is this the way we threat a new player asking a legitimate question while the answer was already provided early on? Throw up some fog or make fun of it?
Well since I'm still gratefull to those who pointed me in certain directions early on, here's a huge hint to improve your setup and score pointsmore regularly from now on Ricardo: /gb/forum/ViewTopic.asp?TopicId=15346&Page=1 Just go through the topic, you'll notice. All the best!

Thank you Jay, I will look at this forum and hopefully become a better manager who doesn't pit at the last lap =)

I do not know what have I done among many other things, you probably just created a most "thumbed" thread.
