He's a bit money-faced too, only wanted to return if the car is capable of winning and the wages was good to him. That's one reason why I really don't like him, money isn't everything.

I'd imagine he would've got payed more in F1 this year than he is in his own rally team. Ferrari payed him as much as they thought he was worth, if Ferrari was willing to pay then Kimi's earned the money.

I think the reason why Kimi wanted a good car and lots of money is because he doesn't find F1 that attractive anymore.
He found rally as lots of fun and he chose it.
Also he would be prepared to PAY for place in Nascar because he thought it was fun.

Kimis title is very deserved.

First of all, the world champion is the one, who has most points during WHOLE season, so to tell he didn´t deserve it cos both of his rivals made mistake or had some troubles during the last 2 GPs is irrelevant, every race has the same value. And you can´t tell he was much more lucky compared to others during whole season (he had also his troubles in other GPs). Overall, he made the most points, so he is world champion...

More over, he was great in McLaren and was 2 times second. In 2005 he lost cos of McLarens huge unreliability and in 2003 it was so close, that if they didn´t push Schumacher out from the gravel in his home GP Nurburgring, he would be champion... More over Kimi was leading in that GP, but his engine blew up (Schumacher didn´t have any technical failure during whole season).

So considering all of this, he is well deserved champion...

Always found it strange how people get so attached to drivers. It doesn't bother me too much who is driving the cars as long as there are interesting battles going on and good talent on show. the face behind the helmet doesn't mean so much to me, at a push I do like outspoken drivers with a bit of personality. Senna, Irvine and yes probably Jacques too. I think he's wide of the mark with his comments on Kimi though. He won six races that season iirc and that was more than anyone else. Massa is talented but he's never had the consistency of someone like Kimi. Felipe is a confidence driver. When it's not going right, he tends to go missing.

for me.. all of those who won the title are deserving.. its not about being lucky, its all about keeping the hope alive, even if you're down by a huge margin. you still keep pushing until the lights are out. that's what he did. and when the curtain closes. he won it. the same with the current F1 season, vettel has a large margin. but what? hammy, jb, fa, etc. all of them are still pushing, they are not waiting for a LUCK! they are just piling up the pressure to the leader to make a mistake and get as much points as possible. they will all fight until the end. that's the Essence of true champion. there will be no regret even if they loose the fight. because they tried their best..

I see it the similar like with football teams or ice hockey teams. The point is, if you have some driver as the favourite one, the race is bit more spicy for you than if you are just watching the action without following anybody.

If you watch the world cup final - and your favourite team is part of it - the game gets more exciting to you.

Well, he didn't luck into his title, unlike Kimi, who should thank Lewis and Fernando for his.

Here are some basic facts:

1) Kimi had reliability isues in 2007 (I recall Spain and Nurburgring) while Lewis and Alonso had a bulletproof Mclaren, no reliability problems whatsoever.

2) Kimi won 6 gp's in 2007 while Hamilton & Alonso only won 4 each. Massa only 3.

3) If Massa deserved the title more than Kimi he should've beaten him a races such as France, Belgium.

4) Raikkonen could've been a triple champion alongside Lauda, Senna, Stawart, Piquet and Brabham. I recall 2003 and 2005.

5) Jacques was lucky that he received a dominant car early in his career. Hill beat him convincingly in 1996, and in 1997 he nearly lost to Schumacher who had clearly inferior machinery.

6) Villeneuve did nothing in the next 9 years. Not a thing.

Villeneuve went to BAR in 1999 for the money, and screwed up his own career. Don't call Kimi a moneyface.

No but they're important, in Britain F1 would lose half its fans if Hamilton retired next week, a lot of new fans are fickle and will only support one driver if they're winning.

I have never really cared for Kimi. He's always struck me as selfish and completely ungrateful for the opportunities he was given.

He was a bad ambassador for F1 during his time as champion, I cant remember him ever doing anything for the fans. The thing that seals it for me is a video on Youtube of him barging past a small child asking for an autograph.

Richard hit the nail on the head, if he cant be bothered with WRC, why bother with F1?

It'll just be bad for Williams if he joins cause KR will only want an extortionate wage for a top notch car and if he doesn't get that then he'll be off again within 2 seasons.

It'll be a bad move by Williams, they should keep Barrichello and Maldonado.
