i think it will be a good ideea to implement a method to show the car tire type in the race and quals.: 1 letter (e, s, m, h, r ) near the lap time or maybe 1 colored line on the tire.

It would be nice, but it would take away some the excitement from the race if we all knew which way other managers were going strategy wise. Sorry Dan. :(

still it should be good, because in real life you can see what tyres people are driving anyways.. only displayed during live race replay and after the race

a fair point though I look at it like this....would F1 be more interesting if the tires were'nt color coded so that nobody could know what strategy the other team is running. :) yes!

I mean, how many times have you seen a team change to another tire, its been a sec a lap faster and then 2 laps later everyone is on the same! if we had color coded tires in GPRO it would be bad as it is a strategy giveaway and could give away lots of tire (and strategy) data if people were clever enough to make use of it :)

This has been discussed earlier and its the case of managerial ability, with time you can easily make out ,don't need something to indicate.

Screw real life! :P

I love it when someone is faster than me pits 4-8 laps before me for being on the faster tyre and I realise that very lap, I'm faster on the harder compound and will likely win that position at the end of the race.

Having the tyres coded would completely ruin that experience.

Knowing which tyre other cars are using would shorten a rookies learning curve as far as choosing the best strategy is concerned. It would lessen the importance of testing and make the game less involved.
Its a humble no from me.

I wouldn't mind being able to change my tyre choice and fuel strategy during the race though.

What's the need, If someone used a faster compound then you should know because they were forced to pit before you, and if they used a harder compound, then they pit after you.

(Granted, I KNOW that risks would play a factor but as a general thought it fits)

Yeah, that's a big no, because you can't have real-time strategy.

It is not difficult to work out during and certainly after the race.
If you study your opponents you should be able to make an educated guess from their Qualy times compared to your own.

Not always true. For low-temperature races, for example, how would I know if a manager that 1-stopped used Medium or Hard compounds? Qualifying doesn't always tell the whole story due to fuel load and driver's mistakes. Races also don't tell the whole story because a manager might pit due to a random or fuel miscalculation. Having compounds used added to the Race Summary page only would save on a lot of unnecessary guesswork.

Unless... it is the admins' original intention to hide compound info for FOBY purposes? Of course, I agree that tyres for qualifying and races should not be revealed at all to keep the element of surprise that keeps us glued during live races.

it's not a good idea. why?

it will be evn more frustrating to see a manager with hard tyres , having lap times better than you with soft tyres :P

if you don't know wgat tyres managers are using....you'll think he is on extra soft,no ? :P

very exciting, until you make the first pit :P

The moment and the build up to the moment when you find out if your opponent for the win is on the same or a different strategy to you would be lost. It's an important part of the live race, adding excitement/tension, imo.

i don't think how it would still i lot we don't know as what risks and as you know this depends on how long the tyre will last it mightn't work in rookie/amateur but pro above i think would be good.

I don't like this suggestion. IMO tyre info should not be given at all since it would make data easier to collect and would, as has been already said, take away some of the excitedness of the live race. (Edited for a typo)
