I'm not a religious guy, but right now I'm sending my thoughts to Dennis Marshall, left-back for Costa Rica and my hometown club, who lost his life 3 years ago in a tragic road accident while on vacation in his homeland!

Well done Costa Rica.
We were the better team today but it wasn't enough.

Quote ( Jake Clark @ June 30th 2014,00:56:20 ) Bryan, I know you're from Costa Rica :) BUT DON'T BREAK THE FORUM :P
This is history! It's just our 4th time in Worldcup and we already make it into quarters :D
We are motivated and just a few hours ago seeing Netherlands struggle with with the mexicans certainly give us hopes
PURA VIDA!

Mexico would've beaten you guys any day. Mexico were a really strong team and deserved to go much further than this!
Nonetheless, good game by your country Costa Rica to make it this far! I bet everyone there is really proud!

I'm really happy with the pleasant surprise in the goalkeeper market, Ochoa and Navas really step forward this world cup
|
|

Hopefully both the African teams will win tomorrow, as unlikely as that may be!

I hope Benzema will score a lot tomorrow, that will be good for my points. And I hope Müller gets injured so he can't score more :D

Yeah, the world cup is a great place to show how good you are! The defenders in the dutch squad are all very young as well and now they are getting noticed by teams all over Europe... There are talks about de Vrij going to Man Utd and Martins Indi to FC Porto!
That's a very good thing about World Cup and I'm sure that Ochoa and Navas will get a good team for next season :)
I must say that Bryan Ruiz is really performing well as well for Costa Rica :)

Imagine how cool it would be if Germany loses to Argelia, the world would go nuts! Hahahaha

Well done Costa Rica, I hope it is worth your win, all the luck with the Dutch.
Lucky Holland...

To be fair, if the penalty for Costa Rica would have been given, it would have most likely been game over for Greece already. Also hats off to Costa Rica for the great fight they put in with 10 men and I can't help but feel like they deserved to go through.

Very proud of the team to reach this far. Today, a great GK kept us from going forward to the QFs but that's football. I didn't agree with some choices made my our coach today (especially that 4-2-4 formation after we conceded the goal) but I guess, in times like this, it's not so much about the tactical approach but it's up to the players' character and will to win, like we have showed in so many occasions. We leave this tournament with our heads high.
Costa Rica today showed great mental strength. Good Luck with the Netherlands.
PS Today was the last game with the national team for a great player. Karagounis has been a invaluable member to this team's success over the past decade and today was yet again, a reminder of how great he is, even in the age of 37 (120 minutes plus stoppage time).
Giorgo Karagouni... thanks for the memories

True, but I can hardly find any difference between the style Greece played 2004 and on, with the Costarican style today.

The penalty should've been given, that's for sure.
We were better till CRC's goal but then Santos' subs totally screwed the team. Gekas is worthless and Mitroglou is just not fit enough to play. Both were terrible.
Anyway, great fight and spirit by both teams, especially CRC. Let's see what Ranieri will bring to our team from now on.

Seeing Mexico and Chile going out playing a hell of a match and seeing Costa Rica passing this way .. well actually I don't think they're deserving to go through in this competition
anyway this is just my opinion :)
ooh well , good luck with Netherlands .. tons and tons of luck will be needed :)

It was obvious that this match will be like this when Greece went through IMO. Costa Rica is not used to face another defensive team. They look much better when playing an offensive team as they always are dangerous with their quick and usually well played counter attacks, at least if they have some space.

THAT Uruguay is not Netherlands :)
well they were out of Suarez in that match , that's true .. but anyway it's a whole new level man ;)

I wasn't saying that they are going to beat Netherlands...
It was rather an explanation as to why they didn't look as strong tonight against Greece.

and my answer wasn't meant to explain this :)
I just said that against a team like Uruguay without Suarez they were able to go through and to do a great match , but it won't be that easy (to do a great match , not to win) against this Netherlands
it's a whole new level , and they're going to experience this next turn .. the real WC has just begun :)

well done costa rica...good luck in the quarter finals..today we were bit better but thats football...anyway i am happy as greece had good performance in the world cup reaching round of 16.

Thumbs up to Greece for trying to play football for once.
The thing is that without the red card, this would have never happened.

Quote ( Dimitris Glynos @ June 30th 2014,07:06:12 ) with ivory Greece didn't play football? I can't comment on that, I didn't watch the entire match. I did watch the one yesterday and I couldn't see Greece put such pressure without the red card.
