LOL, First of all congrats to Jasper! I would rather see Martino win, but that's biased because he's from my team. On the other side I'm once again very happy that our tools & predictions made this possible. We'll still have a way to go, but for the 2nd time it proves we're on the right track ;)

Congrats for Martino too on 2nd!

I expect more 30C temp races after this one. We haven't had enough hot races this season... Who uses any cold tyres? I mean that Avonn price reduction surely made Avonns a better pick this season, they just got baited. :D

Given the 1 hour per race available due to RL i will have to say goodbye to "competitive" racing guys

It's cruel for everybody. Without the randoms the top 4 would propably would all be within 2 points of eachother.

I can feel your pain.

Someone (I know who, but don't know if he wants his name attached to this) once wrote in forum: "Making such changes that only work help a small portion of managers while being unfair in design most of the time is not good game design I think."

Randoms are not good game design.

The problem I have with randoms is this:

GPRO is about planning and management, you can't plan for randoms.

Well in Elite randoms seem to be the ones to make it boring as hell...

How can you call this game boring as hell without randoms?

We have Driver Energy that Keeps the game open till the end, possible weather changes, normal tecnical Problems and in lower Tiers tyre or fuel miscalculations...

No is still not boring

That was me. And up until recently I've thought that randoms on the whole of it should be fairly neutral as you often benefit a bit from other people having them. I also thought that they disincentivized extreme OBP strategies (especially in this PHA matching era) because of the risk of it not working out, which is a positive in my book.

But as I think about it more and have realize how catastrophic they can be to managers for no apparent reason, I've realized they aren't fair because they don't affect all managers equally. And it's not just a case of absorbing the initial financial impact of it which can be covered off, especially when it comes to sponsors. Sure it helps to disincentivize some OBP strategies but it doesn't really address the issue of extreme PHA, something that could be dealt with better by addressing that directly. So I'm now of the opinion that terminal randoms at least don't really have a place in GPRO (obviously start crashing from too high risks doesn't count). I can see keeping random pits or fixable technicals which shouldn't cost as much but finishing 38th-40th at no fault of one's own is excessive.

Well, if you're going to talk about removing randoms from the game, you have to consider all of the effects, not just the ones that suit you. Season planning would change, at least for some managers, because they wouldn't have to consider this financial risk anymore (and indeed that would make this aspect of the game more boring, which is what I think Joachim was getting at). Season standings without randoms are impossible to imagine because it would be a different game altogether.

So do you guys enjoy to replan whole season because you drop out because of tyre puncture after 89% of the race while you expect a podium finish? I would prefer to invest my time to squeeze my money to get more performance out of my package in order to be 0.05x faster than my championship opponents instead of finding myself 8 points and 15M down because of luck.

Random is already part of the game: tyres and PHA being so unbalanced means that you will have to deal with OBPers randomly scoring points. Roland wins all races this way? It means he's the best manager then.

Well I continuously try to find improvements in my plan, so if I end one race with lower wear than expected (drop out or start crash), I surely need to replan replacements.
If you were talking purely about money, then ok. But that's an easy part: just put some backup money on your budget and you'll be safe. If you got the money though.
