But that was such a long time ago - now looking at this board USA has ~ 33% chance of posting a new #1 :)

Still doesn't happen... :p

We have 16 players now, can we get to 20?

Quote ( Bálint Turi-Kováts @ August 11th 2018,18:05:01 ) I'm secretly hoping we can get to 20 players because that's the point where the game gets interesting.
Woohoo, first milestone of the game accomplished :D

YES! Welcome everyone, thank you for the huge interest :)

I have some rule clarifications to announce, which I'll do tonight or tomorrow.
Don't send anything just yet! I'll open the submission line tomorrow or the day after. Since everyone has the same rank, PM times are the only thing that decide who gets seeded and who doesn't, who gets to play in a tournament and who doesn't.

Just realized, UK title might be interesting as well...
|
|
|
Imagine a Davis cup tie between the US and the UK... One day :)
--- Rule clarifications:
1. When two or more players have the same total number of points, ties shall be broken as follows:
- Most points from Grands; - Most points from GBT Finals; - Most points from 500 events; then 250 events, then 100 events; - Fewest events played; - The highest number of points from one single tournament; then second highest, and so on. - If everything above is tied, both or all players shall be ranked the same.
Which means, that after January, both 250 winners will be ranked as co-leaders but hopefully after February, there will be no co-leaders anymore.
2. Training limitations
The rules haven't said anything about infinite training. To make the game appealing for those who join seasons later, a few training restrictions will have to be implemented.
- You can only train a certain Skill nine times (your clay skill can only go from 15 to 24) - Your fourth, fifth and sixth Train in a certain skill will cost 4 Stamina instead of 3. - Your seventh, eighth and ninth Train in a certain skill will cost 5 Stamina instead of 3. - If you have four, five or six extra Skill Points, you will lose one of them at the end of the season (if your clay skill is 20, so you trained it five times, you start next season with 19). - If you have seven, eight or nine extra Skill Points, you will lose two of them at the end of the season (if your clay skill is 24, so you trained it the maximum nine times, you start next season with 22).
I hope you're all fine with this. The first season shouldn't be affected much as I don't think anyone would have trained themselves in a certain skill so much.
--- The first come first serve madness for places in the January tournaments begin either today or tomorrow.
Joining is open, as it always will be.

An example PM which you will get on Saturday mornings:
--- Hello GPRO Bracket League player,
It's time to make your plans for Season 1 January. As always, you have three options to choose from.
1. Play - There are three tournaments to choose from in January: Sydney 250 - Grass court - 8 player cap Kuala Lumpur 250 - Hard court - 8 player cap Doha 100 - Clay court - 4 player cap Player spots are decided by the ranking, then first PM time. Because everyone is tied first, for this time only, joining tournaments will be decided by 'first come, first serve'.
2. Rest - You gain 3 Stamina for not playing in January.
3. Train - You gain one Skill Point in a skill of your choice (Clay, Grass, Hard) for the exchange of 3 (or more) Stamina.
You can submit multiple plans for the month (eg. play a tournament but play another or rest if you can't make the cut) or multiple months in a go. Everyone's Stamina and Skill Points: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/e/2PACX-1vQbPi1czingc... Deadline is Sunday 19th August, 22:00 GPRO Time.
Let me know if you have any questions. Good luck, Bálint
-- You can send your January plans now in PM!

Soo, I can't send private messages untill my first race :( Gotta wait untill tomorrow before sending my plans
|
|
|
Ouch, that's inconvenient. :/
If you send it after the race (so like until Saturday noon), I'll take it as if you sent it now, at 15:45 on Thursday :)

Another two clarifications since you have such great questions!
• If you run out of stamina during a tournament (for example entering it with 1 Stamina but winning multiple matches), you won't need to withdraw from the tourney or forfeit it. It is possible however to end up on negative Stamina, it just means that recovering from it will take a longer time.
• If you have no other choice than resting (having zero or negative Stamina), you'll do that automatically. It never hurts to confirm your 'forced move' but you'll gain 3 Stamina no matter what.

|
Want to make sure you get a seat in your desired tournament? Maybe even snatch a seeded spot? Then don't leave it to the last minute :)

The day has arrived, deadline is in under 9 hours.

Damnit. Had to work longer today than planned, so missed the deadline... Bummer
|
|
|
So close indeed :/
You can be the first (second actually) to submit your plan for February though :)

Quote ( Bálint Turi-Kováts @ August 11th 2018,18:05:01 ) • On Sundays you have to decide what do you want to do next week. You can either Play, Train or Rest. It was always play OR rest, not AND.
