An idea to make the game more social: allow supporters to create custom race replays which contain up to 40 managers of their choosing.
For example if you have a few friends who play, family, or colleagues, you can add them into a race replay. The cars dont interact with each other at all as they refer to their respective race results, but it acts as a ghost replay. Almost like a custom "one big race" mode.
Thoughts?
Edit: for a bit more fun, we could also set up unofficial community cups. I'd certainly be interested in having a race replay made up of the top manager from each team or group. I'd consider paying a season subscription fee for the functionality too, if it's not excessive.

I think there was a plan for mini leagues a while ago but its not high up on the to-do list.
I really like the idea of mini leagues though, I'd love a ghost like version with your friends list or select people and have custom championships with people of your choosing using the normal races, have the ability to adjust the points system in these mini leagues too, have it over selectable periods of time so say a 5 race league or a 20 race league. Make them super flexible for people with relatively basic things using the current race system, and to try and save the server a bit maybe limit the number of leagues a player can be in. (re-reading I realise I should make it clear this uses the current races and doesn't run seperate ones for the leagues)
Another similar thing I thought of when you mentioned 'ghost cars' would be to allow you to add managers from other groups onto your current groups replay (maybe a new supporter feature?). However their cars are maybe a bit transparent and black and white so that they are visually clear to be in a different race, would allow live comparisons between groups. I'll admit I've not put a lot of thought into this idea but it could be cool.

Essentially your suggestion but expanded to new race screen.
Regarding mini leagues - the difference here is just that it's applied on-the-fly as a visualization, there's no simulation aspect. Meaning it has almost no impact on computational load on the server!
