There hasn't been anyone near bankruptcy so I haven't had a rule for this. But I'll add now: NC races added to/removed from a team's next year's budget. However, if a team ends up in the negative after the season results + NC races, the team fires the manager and files for bankruptcy (and miss 1-2 seasons before they come back).

Well you're in luck, after the departure of HWM last season, dark green is all free to use! This is how Flockhart's green-green looks now:

This was before cars could be 96-97cp. Plus i don't think the car was 80, but there was a 5 point gap i believe

One of the most fascinating careers I'd say. He was the first total unknown to the game with 35 Talent, rookie Mercedes signed him after Michael Monteleyola changed from Bugatti. He spent 10 CP to secure the German team, then another two on bids, five on a second driver... he ended up with 9 CP for the season. Mercedes had only one race in mind - Indianapolis. Even then, HP setups meant Helfrich had the 12th best car for the race - which was major back then, 7 car-points behind the leading Talbots. He finished second in both the Quarters and the Semis to find himself on pole for the Final against the three fastest cars of the weekend. After the pit stops he was in third but the two Talbots started to battle, and found himself leading with 1.5 laps to go. Six corners he had to block in the end but he managed to pull it off, Fangio finished fourth 0.66s behind Helfrich in the closest final to date.

Goodwood was the most chaotic race on the calendar but Helfrich shouldn't have had a chance in the 25th best car. He scored 10 points in the heats, finished second again in the Quarters and in the Semis, 10.54 seconds behind Gerard in the latter! So many big names fell the cars in Helfrich's Semi-Final had 95-74-74-71 points (Helfrich had 74). Those four points put Helfrich at 15 and a 10th place on the table, however, Mercedes lost their manager. Bob Gerard won the title for Alfa Romeo and the Italians decided to go for a third driver - Helfrich was one if not the most talented free agent.

But nothing worked out after the magical 1954 season, in 1955 he failed to advance into a single Semi-Final (as the Alfas scored 6 podiums) and Helfrich finished dead last in the standings. He started off 1956 with a Semi-Final but none of his four other Quarters were successful and the German finished with 13 points. Helfrich was told 3 races before the end that this would be his last season with Alfa, he failed to find a place of 1957, entered two races as a privateer then retired. But his 1954 American GP will likely stay as the underdog victory of the fifties.

Basically. Mercedes are still in a big hole, but having the second smallest budget and having finished 19th last year, they (and you) need to do the least to gain CP.

For the record, I'm not expecting these teams to win two races and finish in the Top 10 to get back on track. Ideally I'd like to see one more season of CP progression before I make changes or declare it as finished.

What disadvantages did you get for your 1949 results? Everyone had the same CP in 1950, 20 for 2-man teams, 23 for 1 driver.

Following your third place in 1950, you gained 3 CP for 1951, becoming only one of three teams who had 23 CP AND two drivers.

Independents (1-man teams) were able to 'fix' their Budget by staying with one driver, as they had no chances to gain or lose 10 places worth of money. The new money system addresses this, you won't see these teams gain as much CP as the others.

As for the abandoned Milano, teams will get gradually get back to 25 CP over a few years' time. The following formula is TBD.

Luckily for you, that's exactly what can help you gain your money back.

You gained 8 CP last year, more than most teams around you. And you only had the 8th best team according to the money formula, while being the 11th richest team last year. You punched above your weight while your team still has potential (individual Top 5s), which will give you some good resources again - if your team can copy last year.

It has never been mentioned here (1 it's an invitational event anyway and 2 I forgot about it while I was on vacation) but the 1957 Race of Champions is coming soon! All submissions are in, I still have to record the race however, either tonight or tomorrow morning. After that, everyone's Talent will be finalized for the 1958 season.

Six teams need to develop their cars still. Deadline is in less than 24 hours. 5 days until the season opener!

The new rules for the NC races are finally here.

a) Non-championship races

- A mini race consisting of two rounds, a driver has 10 points to distribute between Rounds 1 and 2.
- Registering a driver for a race costs 1 Money.
- Neither the costs, nor the rewards have an impact on the ongoing season, teams play with their next year's money.
- To create a race, select a race which has hosted a FGen race before (current or former track, any used layout), and join it.
- To join, simply post something like this in the thread: #Join NC race - [Your driver].
- You can register one of your drivers every 48 hours.
- If there are less than six entries after one week, the race is abandoned and everyone gets their money back.
- After that, you must choose your strategy. In PM, send your strategy in a way like this: [Your driver] - X-Y where X+Y=10.
- If all six drivers are registered, managers have 48 hours to send in their setups, otherwise they will use 0 and 0 points.

- A race consists of Round 1, which is 4 laps long and a Round 2, which is 6 laps long.
- The grid of Round 1 is sorted by points used (least points used occupy pole), PM time being the tiebreaker.
- After Round 1, the Top 4 advance to Round 2, where grid order is Round 1 results.
- The Top 3 finishers of Round 2 earn CP for their teams, 3-2-1 respectively.

- All participating drivers below 40 Talent earn 1 Talent for participating, all drivers between 40 and 45.5 earn 0.5 Talent.
- If the race is wet, their Wet Skill is in effect, but everyone gains 1 Wet Talent.
- Both Talent and Wet Talent is added to a driver's next year's skills.
- A driver can only earn skills in the first three races of the year that they enter.

- Additional complications (damage, fuel load, changed grip level) can be tested by me without telling anyone beforehand.
- Additional rules may be added and enforced with immediate effect.
