http://www.planetf1.com/driver/10642/7643709/Sutil-withdraws...

In January, Sutil was found guilty of stabbing Lotus's Eric Lux in the neck with a champagne glass during an incident at a Shanghai nightclub in 2011.
Although the former Force India driver avoid bail, he was put on probation for 18 months and hit with a hefty fine.
Sutil appealed the ruling, however, two months later has decided rather to let the matter rest.

"I am very happy that I have been able to express myself to Eric Lux and don't have to go to trial again," Sutil told Bild.

"I don't want to again go through a year like this last one.

"I am finished with the topic and want to return as quickly as possible to what I do best: race in Formula One."

Sutil's manager Manfred Zimmermann added: "We are pleased that Eric Lux and Adrian have spoken and that this topic is now closed.

"From now on we will concentrate on the sport and do everything to see that Adrian gets back in Formula One as quickly as possible."

I hope Adrian Sutil will be back soon enough :)

Whether or not he's a good driver is irrelevant. He was found guilty and he clearly has issues with anger and resorts to violence....not a role model we want in F1, not a man to be trusted with something as lethal as an F1 car.

You forget to mention Kimi - I once saw a video of him being drunk.

You also forget Lewis - He had some problems with inappropriate jokes last season.

I feel very much that one could find some simliar kind of matters for most of the drivers in the field ;) The least of them are true role models. This is thinking in only black and white.

And btw.: I don't like Sutil at all and don't want to see him back in F1. At least in german television hes constantly whining that everything is so bad except for him .. I would call him a true Heidfeld :D

Being drunk or telling jokes which might offend some people is hardly in the same ballpark as glassing someone in the neck!

I have been drunk and doubtless told inappropriate jokes with barristers and policemen without a problem. I suspect if I stabbed one of them in the neck they might have an issue with that!

People have lost their jobs for far less, I suspect he's got more than enough cash to 'see him get by'! As someone in the public eye he has a responsibility to act in a suitable manner for his sponsors benefit if nothing else. If I was a sponsor would I risk backing Sutil or a team he was in?...not a chance when there are equally good/better drivers out there without temperament problems.

Maybe he will find it tough to get back into the high teams in F1, but I reckon the likes of Caterham or Virgin may give him a go in time, that is if he would take the step down, which remains to be seen. He is defo an amazing driver in the wet but Di Resta in true 1 lap pace matched him last season.

This is the sponsors choice not ours. If I was a sponsor I wouldn't risk backing Hamilton, still some does.

Well, everyone makes mistakes, he apologized to Eric and hopefully won't do it again.

He is very hard to beat not so much in qualify but especially on race day.

For as long as he continue with his consistency, i'm sure he can fight for top seats in the future.
Him and Maldonado (maybe Perez too?).

I agree we have seen many drivers over the years hit each other over an in race accident, recently Alonso pushed a Marshell, dont think you remember Australlia.

Yeah Sutil did something really stupid, but I do agree with ppl saying he should be allowed back in to F1 for the pure resason that Tomas Scheckter's who pretty much had a seat in F1 was caught with a prostitude or something scandalis like that and will now never drive in F1...

I do feel bad for both drivers but there racing careers in F1 may be over but there are still other forms of racing for them. Look at Tomas Scheckter now he is doing well or had been doing well in Indy Cars, so where one door closes a couple can open :)
