From my point of view, this feature (undisclosed tyre selection @ season start) is a success! I know i apreciated to be able to combine real life events with a fair decision (equally informed) on tyre brand when it was introduced. Now that i play in master i envy elites for having this feature, since i would like to get tests and qualifications going, without revealing my tyre brand.

And yes, i know there is an original topic, but we need a new poll for this! :)

EDIT: I see a spelling mistake in the 5th option, that i cant edit.

I would love this, it would create a more individual choice of tyres by Managers

I agree with Matti tbh, its certainly fairer to do this for the benefit of those in less than favourable time zones who can't be online CET timing.

Not only for benefit of those outside CET I should add - but also those within CET who even are able to be online for the right moment. For example, some players like qualifying (or at least running practice laps) early so they can get a feel for their pace. The Pre-R1 situation we have now kinda puts managers on a back foot in that regard, since you can't even run a practice lap til you chose your tyre of course.

So, for the benefit of planning and preparation it is also a positive move if ALL manager's in all Elite/Master and Pro feel able to take the game at the pace and preparation of their own choosing, instead of feeling like they have to take steps in the dark somewhat :)

Actually this is worst ever feature ever invented. Increases shooting in the dark. And stright to the elite level.

Answer 2, no other choice.

It reduces part of the advantage currently enjoyed by those who are available at certain time of the day.

How is it based on random luck? its not like you click a randomise button :p
You are still responsible for your decisions
I think what you mean is you(and others) enjoy getting benefits from being in the right timezone and not having to be anywhere else at the key times :-)

Exactly right too.

I mean, you are able to run a practice lap whenever you like for 16 races of a season and not have to show your hand on the Q table over a minimum 70 hour period. But, before R1, you can't do that until you told the world part of your plans. For me, its as equally about consistency as it is fairness to time zones. Manager's who are both outside favourable time zones or who like being able to prepare, should not be disadvantaged before the first race or feel like they have to prepare differently than what they normally would in order to avoid handing an advantage to those in favourable time zones, or who prefer planning late.

Not only that Stuart, but it actually benefits managers who are able to think for themselves as to what the best tyre choice is - rather than either following everyone else, or deliberately picking something different to get an advantage in a specific race / weather.... (once they have seen everyone else's choice)

if top-3 tyres have to be excluded from pro options then we should also try this for pro :)

That would not be the worst idea anyway IMO :)
Also on that subject I have always thought it would nice to have a tyre choice in ammy not of the current tyres but something similar level as pipi's and and same price as pipi's but that uis a top for another day/thread :)

Master = yes
Pro = no

Why?

Pro is the first time after promo from Amateur to pick a tyre supplier, let's not add the hidden element to that.
Master yes, would be nice I guess

I am disagree with you. GPRO is a type of strategy game, if you manage to plan a good strategy and race setup then you have the greatest chances to get the good positions during the race. There is nothing relate with first time after promo from Amateur or what. What wrong if add this feature to the Pro too? They can't learn if this feature had been added? It is a joke man.

I don't see any reason Pros should have a difficult time handling hidden tyres now the brands are stable, they can look at past seasons and see what normally gets picked

But if it is a problem perhaps the aggregate brand counts for all Pro groups could be kept visible so they can get a feeling for the likely make up of their group's picks without seeing every individual one. Basically these stats, but in a more visible place: /gb/Stats.asp?type=tyresuppliers#scroll

I actually think it's fine the way it is.

Your tyre choice in Master and Pro is far less likely to be influenced by others than in Elite, and your tyre choice won't be influencing others either. If there's more than 3 going for promotion, then in Master and Pro you can make up for your tyre choice in other ways whereas if you're going for the top of Elite, tyre choice is far more important.

Hiding the tyre choices also increasing high cost tyre numbers which is good for Elite, and bad for Master and Pro.

My opinion of course.

And as someone who did his first Pro season last season I have to ask, what do you fear that happens to new Pro players? That we are too stupid to make own decisions? Or that we are too stupid to find out what players in our group used in previous season? I can't really understand what problems you see if it's hidden in Pro.
