Benetton F1 Testing Out 2015 Chassis AP Wire – Albuquerque, New Mexico, 5 May 2015
The only GPRO team headquartered in the desert of Albuquerque, New Mexico has been making headlines lately in recent weeks. After finishing in last season’s team standings at an astonishing 84th overall, the small time team with the international set of team members made it to the big times. With those new “big times” comes an amazing opportunity to be one of the teams to actually test out the new 2015 Ferrari Formula One chassis on this season’s test track, Mazda Raceway in between Monterey and Salinas, California. Ferrari reportedly has made a deal with GPRO top brass to allow designers and engineers to use the new chassis and paint the livery anyway they’d like. Both sides though will not comment on how this deal came to be.
The track better known to GPRO teams and drivers as Laguna Seca plays hosts to everyone in all tiers needing and wanting to test out their cars to gain that extra bit of research to develop their cars. Benetton F1 Racing, however, have different ideas than the usual research projects. No, Benetton will be using many of their available test sessions this season to get used to the new chassis, but the team has been really hush-hush about if they’ll be using the new chassis when the rules will allow them to change from the current 2012 chassis.
Team members MG van Rensberg and Shawn Simmons have commented that the design phase for the livery colours are looking good, but when asked directly about how it feels to actually take the 2015 chassis out for some laps, both became tight-lipped and pointed reporters to their team principal, Daniel Mason. Mason, it is said, really had nothing to say more than van Rensberg and Simmons, but it looked like he was more interested in actually getting the car setup to take a real spin through the famous Corkscrew than talking to reporters about... well... anything really.
Another Benetton F1 member, the oldest on the team by age in fact, Shane Ferguson wasn’t too thrilled about the way the livery design discussions went with the 2012 chassis’ livery, so it was clear that Ferguson would cause quite a row in the paddock should it not go his way again. As if on cue, Ferguson and Mason have at it about who will not only be the first member of Benetton to take the 2015 chassis (no word on which power plant has been installed in the test chassis) out on track, but the livery design isn’t what the older American likes painted on a racecar. The argument went from the livery design, to talking about Mrs. Mason (how did that happen?), to NASCAR (but F1 isn’t NASCAR, right?), and it ended with an agree-to-disagree standoff after no one could agree upon who invented the first automobile (it was Ford, init?).
“Don’t worry,” Mason said after Ferguson left for the hotel to reportedly get some shut-eye, “You think we’re bad here in the paddock of Laguna Seca? You should see us back at our headquarters in Albuquerque.”
Is that a good thing, or a bad thing? Nevertheless, it is unclear when Benetton F1 will unveil the first prototype livery design, nor will they announce if and when they’re making the switch to the new chassis, despite how much the fans love the current chassis and livery design. Will the fans appreciate the new livery design once it Is unveiled? Will someone on the Benetton team actually get a chance to drive the 2015 Ferrari chassis around Laguna Seca? Best question out of all: will Mason and Ferguson end up getting into a fist fight like drunk fans at a NASCAR race before this is all over?
UPDATE 6 May 2015: A person close to the Benetton team, choosing to inform reporters anonymously, has leaked that designers for the livery on this new chassis are looking at different colour schemes than the familiar Benetton light blue underneath the darker blue seen now. One design is said to pay homage to the original Benetton Formula One team, using the iconic light blue throughout the entire livery. Another design supposedly will be more tailored to the ladies, as the two-tone blue is replaced by a completely pink livery. It must be noted that the main members of the Benetton GPRO team are all men, no women among them whatsoever. Will the American desert-based team try on other colour schemes?
(Holy hell that's long. Let's see how many people actually read the whole thing.)

Why ask someone else to design a livery for me when I can do it myself? ;)

Hi guys, I am new to amateur and it is way more difficult than I anticipated. My major problem is that my qualification is so bad, and my car level is level 5 and still my lap times are so bad. Also, my drivers overall has been reducing constantly. I am really frustrated and I really don't know why this is happening.

I'm guessing your drivers OA is reducing due to when you got him or promoted from rookie he had high motivation as you start doing badly in races that will drop. Don't know why you posting that in this thread but I would recommend joining a team to help.

Your car level is fine for ama.
I imagine it has a whole lot to do with your driver and choice of strategies..... possibly even your ability to correctly setup a car. you should focus on the basics ;)

|
Thanks Guys but when you say the basics , i am a bit confused as i thought i had already done that.

You should asap consider to ditch that driver of yours. Motivation alone will not get you points and I doubt he can even concentrate for a whole lap straight ;) I guess even your old Rookie driver did better there.

|
Thanks Maik i will do that, I thought the most important criteria in a driver is aggressiveness. My old driver was actually very good but i ditched him...... Now i miss him

He would likely struggle as well, so dont be sorry :)
You will learn to love agg in the upper layers (or hate the lack of it ;)). But for Rookie and Ama most people aim at other attributes first.
I can only second the suggestion from Alex to look for a team. With your commitment of about 5 hours per race you shouldnt have much trouble finding a team and then reaching Pro level or better. Except for some top 5 teams or so (wild guess!) you will find plenty of oppurtunity to research & develop in each team, so don't think that's the end of the game then ;)

I will try to find a team then. Hopefully i will get a team that will see my dedication and are willing to accept me.

What have we let ourselves into --- Kshitij Sharma (Amateur - 11) joined team Galaxy Racing - Team Comet
About time somebody helped out the little guy.
At least our external forum has a programme you can use to stop multiple posting each day.

Good of you to help him, a lot of teams refused him so good to let him in.
Good luck.
