Hope to have another exciting race here, even knowing that it is less likely seeing the track's character.

Circuit with low speed curves, difficult to expect big disputes, cheering for an "out of normal" grid for more excitement
Perfect circuit for Red bull. I won't be surprised if Verstappen will be winning this one as well. The car has been quick on race days and the recent updates seem to work very well.

It's a Merc track all the way, they have dominated low speed corners this season. The only way they might struggle a bit is if the track temps are soaring.
Also Hamilton is a kind of a king here, with those 6 wins as record. I do not expect less than a win from Lewis and another 1-2 from Mercedes.

hate to say it, but it will be Mercedes all the way.

It's a Mercedes circuit I do agree, but lately the race pace isn't that much better than Verstappen's RB. Let's hope it will be an interesting race again. So far the training results put them all close together.. but P2 was a rainy one, so we can't rely too much on that session.

I'd say LH44 to win with any of Valtteri Bottas, Sebastian Vettel , Charles Leclerc or Max Verstappen finishing second.

Another exciting Q is coming with 5 drivers showing basically the same pace on P3 (currently Vettel is 0.5s behind the first but he got some traffic during his best attempt).
EDIT: P3 ended with all 5 in 0.3s. :) Lewis car seems to be the most balanced car (he got his best time in a lap with some traffic) but it will be a funny Q for sure. Glad to see Ferrari so close, I was not expecting that tbh.

Finally hope this will remain the right st of the season. yup would be great to seem them fighting closely, Red Bull are always stronger in the 2nd half of the season it seems as well so it bodes well for them , not so much for Ferrari.
The saving grace for Ferrari maybe is that Gasly just isnt up for the job in a top car

A real shame George Russell couldnt quite make Q2, but still a result for Williams. great lap by Max lets hope he gets a good start unlike last week. Bottas done well to pip hamilton.
Alonso must be suffering watching a GP2 engine take pole position after winning 2 of the last 3 races
In Russell's lap I celebrated as a pole. Lets see If in the race the expectations are right

Good thing is that he can start on medium tyres all cars Infront will have the soft and based on formula 2 these soft tyres are gone really quickly. So I think he can benefit from it if he can keep up the same pace.

While Hamilton was the one said the 2 Mercs could beat Max if they cooperate, but....

If and only If he is in front and Bottas works for.him.

Great masterclass strategy from Mercedes....
Kudos to Hamilton....

This one is going directly for the history books.
With nothing to lose Mercedes did the only possible call and Lewis delivered a set of such great 20 laps. Max is definitely an extraordinary driver but Lewis is... Lewis.
Today's mistake goes for RedBull for not pitting too.

If redbull pitted too then they wouldve lost the race so they did the only thing they could do in the situation

What an exciting battle....
Almost took my mind off the fact that EVERY SINGLE DRIVER (except the Ferraris) WAS LAPPED

They had no option as they would have come out behind Hamilton....

Quote ( Keith Partridge @ August 4th 2019,17:24:03 ) They had no option as they would have come out behind Hamilton.... I agree in part since track position is king here. On the other hand, they could anticipate the move (not likely) or they could pit right after even knowing that they would end in 2nd after the pit (like you say). The difference is that Max would have 20 laps to fight for the win.
I mean, it's a really hard call. I would probably do the same as Christian Horner tbh.

How do you know? During the whole weekend Red Bull was the closest to Mercedes on the medium tyre. On the Hard tyre the gap was to big, something we clearly saw in the second stint. By staying out, Red Bull was just gambling, specially versus a faster and fresher tyre and still a stronger car.

They had 2 laps to stay before Hamilton! After that Hamilton was within the pit window.

Quote ( Niek Nijboer @ August 4th 2019,20:01:49 ) They had 2 laps to stay before Hamilton! After that Hamilton was within the pit window. No. Even pitting lap later Verstappen would of come out behind hamilton... or it would of been extreme gamble for it... Second lap had no chance...
Now after the race yes it's clear Red Bull should of pited as well. But at that moment when Hamilton went to pit they had just seconds to make decision and prepare tires and pitstopp... I can't say they did bad choice at that moment...

^^ Exactly this. Hamilton was already virtually ahead (if Verstappen had stopped) after the 2nd part of his 'outlap' (only by about 0.6 sec but still). Brilliant call by Mercedes and for Hamilton develivering it.

Hamiliton made up for his mistakes last race..
He was on fire for the last stint on new tyres.
