so am I interpreting this correctly?? If pole is on the clean side all even number positions will be on the dirty side of the track? So 2nd place will get a dirty start and 3rd in a better position? How does that work??

Nowhere has it been said that the advantage/disadvantage is enough to make a specific lower grid position better than a higher one, only that there will no longer be a uniform difference between grid positions. It seems that people have jumped to that conclusion which may or may not be what has been implemented.
Let's wait to see what actually happens in this race, and then see what happens at a couple more races at different tracks with different weather before judging this change too harshly.

If I understood things correctly, then on some tracks the Pole side could be the dirty side.

was not lucky this season , got the dirty side , 12 times out of 16 races .
but the effect isn’t just on the start or the first corner
you carry that effect full lap . (( AS IT SEEMS )) to me .
may be next season will get luckier

And you are right!
Remember that the current GPRO engine is lap based no racetrack segments based,
What you see on the live race screen is a representation of your lap thus you could have lost 5 poistions on the first lap because you started on the dirty side (yes I'm exaggerating) and the live race viewer will most surely distribute all of them during the whole lap. (in an exaggerated scenario you could even overtake two cars by the first corner only to drop 7 positions on the rest of the track)

Yes, because the engine shows lap 1 differently to make it seem more interesting, almost all the position changes you're seeing are fake.

This is true, if you look at race lap charts, most of the positions in lap 1 and 2 change
