Amhrán na bhFiann A Soldier's Song
Sinne Fianna Fáil, Soldiers are we, Atá fá gheall ag Éirinn, whose lives are pledged to Ireland Buidhean dár sluagh tar rúinn do ráinig Some have come from a land beyond the wave, chughainn: Sworn to be free, Fámho’dh bhe’rh saor, no more our ancient sireland Sean-t’r ár sinnsear feasta Shall shelter the despot or the slave; N’ fágfar fá'n t’orán ná fa'n tráil; tonight we man the Bearna Baoghal Anocht a theigeamh sa bhearna baoghail, In Erin's cause. Le gean ar Gaedh’ chun báis nó saoghail, come woe or weal; Le gunna sgréach: Fá lamhach na piléar. 'Mid cannon's roar and rifle's peal Seo Libh canaidh amhrán na bhFiann. We'll chant a soldier's song.
Seo dhibh a cháirde duan oglaidh We'll sing a song, a soldier's song Caithréimeach, br’oghmhar, ceolmhar. With cheering, rousing chorus ár dteinte cnámh go buacach táid, As round our blazing fires we throng, `S an spéir go min réaltógach. The starry heavens o'er us; Is fionmhar faobhrach sinn chun gleo Impatient for the coming fight, 'S go tiúnmhar glé roimh tigheacht do'n ló, And as we wait the mornings light Fa ciúnas chaoimh na h-oidhche ar seol, here in the silence of the night Seo libh, cana’dh amhrán na bhFiann. We'll chant a soldier's song.
Cois banta réidhe, ar árdaibh sléibhe. In valley green or towering crag Ba bhuadhach ár rinnsear romhainn, Our fathers fought before us, Ag lámhach go tréan fá'n sár- bhrat séin And conquered 'neath the same old flag Tá thuas sa ghaoith go seolta; That's floating o'er us, Ba dhúthchas riamh d'ár gcine cháidh We're children of a fighting race Gan iompáil riar ó imirt áir, That never yet has known disgrace, 'Siubhal mar iad i gcoinnibh rámhaid And as we march the foe to face, Seo libh, canaidh amhrán na bhFiann. We'll chant a soldier's song.
A buidhean nach fann d'fuil Ghaoidheal is Gall Sons of the Gael! Men of the Pale! Sinn breacadh lae na saoirse, The Long watched day is breaking; Tá sgéimhle 's sgannradh ’ gcroidhthibh namhad, The serried ranks of Innisfail Roimh ranngaibh laochra ár dt’re; Shall set the tyrant quaking. ár dteinte is tréith gan spréach anois, Our camp fires now are burning low; Sin luinne ghlé san spéir anoir, See in the east a silvery glow, 'S an b’odhbha i raon na bpiléar agaibh: Out yonder waits the saxon foe, Seo libh, canaidh amhrán na bhFiann.

Quote ( Florencia Caro @ April 24th 2014,16:58:47 ) This shows the horribly poor education we get at school Dieguito... that is not the full version of the Anthem, but the reduced version we used to sing at school... but nobody told us that at school! I discovered that when I was 8-9 checking on my dad's old ID, which had the full version of it. It was reduced not only because of length, but because it a really fierce war song... and it attacks Spain a lot (as the region used to part of the Spanish Crown in colonial times). It's a really nice song though, full of nice poetic euphemisms :D
I was awared about that but i avoided to mention it in order that it has been modified since 1924. At least in my class they mentioned it and taught us the full version. But as it was made in 1813 it had allusions to Spain and the independance wars

Quote ( Diego Alvarez Di Salvo @ April 24th 2014,20:54:06 ) But as it was made in 1813 it had allusions to Spain and the independance wars
Our official anthem is about honoring the Spanish king as well, them Spanish people must feel honored :P
But then again like Kevin said - it has got 15 verses in the full version, we usually sing one and sometimes about 3 (around Queen's Day (now King's Day :P) )

Quote ( Wopke Hoekstra @ April 24th 2014,21:03:58 ) Our official anthem is about honoring the Spanish king as well
I wasn't about honoring them precisely. It was about mocking them because of the victory in the wars.

Quote ( Sheila Clark @ April 24th 2014,18:54:07 ) Sing over the English anthem
I'm missing Bargain Hunt What should I have for lunch? Maybe some chips
Who would I rather be Spongebob or Mr. T I want a space butler monkey 'cuz I'm the queen.
1000 times better than the original royal ass kissing lyrics that currently exist.

I'm going to be banned for spamming after posting the Colombian national anthem:
¡Oh, gloria inmarcesible! I ¡Cesó la horrible noche!
In English:
Oh , unfading glory! Oh , immortal joy ! In furrows of pain goodness germinates now ! I The horrible night ceased! The sublime freedom pours the dawns of its invincible light . All humanity , crying in its chains , understands the words of He who died crucified. II "Independence !" Screams the American world ; bathed in the blood of heroes the land of Columbus. But this great principle : "The king is not sovereign " resounds , and the suffering bless your passion. III The Orinoco channel is filled with the remains; blood and a crying river is there seen. In Bárbula they don't know souls and eyes , if admiration or horror they should feel or suffer . IV Shores of the Caribbean hungry people fight, horrors preferring to treacherous health . Oh, yes! Cartagena abnegation is much, and debris of death despises its virtue. V From Boyacá in the fields the genius of glory every ear a hero crowned undefeated. Soldiers without armor won the victory ; their virile breath served them as shield. VI Crosses the Andes watering two oceans ; swords as sparks shine in Junín. Indomitable centaurs descend to the plains , and the end of the saga begins to be sensed. VII The victorious horn in Ayacucho thunders , and in every triumph it grows his formidable song. In its expansive thrust Liberty is worn, From the American sky forming a canopy. VIII The virgin tears her hairs in deep agony and widow from his love she hangs them from a cypress . Regretting her hope that covers a cold slap but glorious pride encircles her light face. IX The country thus was formed , Thermopylae springing ; constellation of cyclops its night brightened. The trembling flower , finding the wind mortal, below laurels sought safety. X But it is not full glory to win the battle unless the arm that fights encourages the truth. Independence alone the great clamor does not silence ; if the sun shines on everyone, justice is freedom. XI Man rights Nariño preaching , the soul of the struggle prophetic he taught . Ricaurte in San Mateo atoms flying, "Duty before life" flames he wrote .

In any case, our anthem is a bunch of nonsenses, exagerations and very bad poetry. :D

Mexican Anthem
The bolded parts are the ones normally sung, this is the official version but the original version was almost three times longer.
Translation into English
Mexicans, at the cry of war, prepare the steel and the steed, and may the earth shake at its core to the resounding roar of the cannon.
Gird, oh country, your brow with olive the divine archangel of peace, for your eternal destiny was written in the heavens by the hand of God.
But if some strange enemy should dare to profane your ground with his step, think, oh beloved country, that heaven has given you a soldier in every son.
Mexicans, at the cry of war, prepare the steel and the steed, and may the earth shake at its core to the resounding roar of the cannon.
War, war without truce to any who dare to tarnish the country's coat-of-arms! War, war! Take the national pennants and soak them in waves of blood.
War, war! In the mountain, in the valley, the cannons thunder in horrid unison and the resonant echoes cry out Union!, Liberty!
Mexicans, at the cry of war, prepare the steel and the steed, and may the earth shake at its core to the resounding roar of the cannon.
Oh country, 'ere your children defenseless bend their neck to the yoke, May your fields be watered with blood, may they trod upon blood.
And may your temples, palaces and towers collapse with horrid clamor, and their ruins live on to say: This land belonged to a thousand heroes.
Mexicans, at the cry of war, prepare the steel and the steed, and may the earth shake at its core to the resounding roar of the cannon.
Oh, country, country, your children swear to breathe their last in your honor, if the trumpet with warlike accent should call them to fight with courage.
For you the olive branches! A reminder for them of glory! A laurel of victory for you! For them a tomb with honor!
Mexicans, at the cry of war, prepare the steel and the steed, and may the earth shake at its core to the resounding roar of the cannon.

Romanian national anthem consists of eleven stanzas. On festive occasions we interpret verses 1, 2, 4 and 11. Unfortunately there are many archaic words from the 1900s, I tried to find alternative words. Believe me, it sounds better in Romanian.
Desteapta-te Romane ! Awake Romanians !
Full national anthem lyrics :
Awaken thee, Romanian, shake off thy deadly slumber The scourge of inauspicious barbarian tyrannies And now or never to a bright horizon clamber That shall to shame put all your enemies.
It's now or never to the world we readily proclaim In our veins throbs Roman blood And in our hearts forever we glorify a name Resounding of battle, the name of gallant Traian.
Raise your broad forehead and look around you Like fir trees, hundreds of thousands of heroes are standing firm; A voice they still wait to jump like wolves among the sheep, Elders, men, youths, boys, from mountains to the plains.
Behold, the mighty shadows, shadows, Michael, Stephen, Corvinus At the Romanian nation, your mighty progeny With arms like steel and hearts of fire impetuous It's either free or dead, that's what they all decree
On ye destruction , evil hatred And blind disunity in Milcov and the Carpathians ! But we cut to the heart of holy liberty , We swear we'll shake hands , may always be brothers !
A widowed mother of Michael the Great Claims from her sons today a helping hand Tearfully curse on whosoever , In such danger would make sellers !
Lightning perish , lightning and brimstone , Either would withdraw our glorious Our mother , tender hearted , He asked to go through fire and sword !
Not reached the barbaric crescent scimitar , Whose fatal wounds and today we still feel Now whip meddlesome ancient places , But witness our living Lord that we do not get !
Not reached despotism with all its blindness Whose yoke we carry like cattle for centuries ; Now try cruel in their blind arrogance , Take away our language , but we give only dead !
Romanian four corners, now or never Unite the mind, senses unite ! Shout to the world at large that the Danube is stolen By intrigue and force , sly machinations !
Priests, rise the cross, because army is Christian The word is freedom, no less sacred is the end We’d rather die in battle, in elevated glory Than live again enslaved on our ancestral land.

How else would you post your national anthem? ;)
you should all have the decency to post in english so that normal people can understand it
Itailan anthem in English ....
Brothers of Italy, Italy has awakened; Scipio's helmet she has put on her head. Where is the Victory? Offer her the hair; because slave of Rome God created her.
Let us unite! We are ready to die; Italy called.
We have been for centuries stamped on, and laughed at, because we are not one people, because we are divided. Let's unite under one flag, one dream; To melt together Already the time has come.
Let us unite! We are ready to die; Italy called.
Let's unite, let's love; The union and the love Reveal to the people God's ways. We swear to liberate the native soil: United, for God, Who can beat us?
Let us unite! We are ready to die; Italy called.
From the Alps to Sicily, Everywhere is Legnano; Every man of Ferruccio has the heart and the hand; the children of Italy are called Balilla; The sound of every church bell calling for evening prayers.
Let us unite! We are ready to die; Italy called.
They are branches that bend the sold swords; Already the eagle of Austria has lost its feathers. the blood of Italy and the Polish blood Drank with Cossacks But its heart was burnt.
Let us unite! We are ready to die; Italy called.

Swedish national anthem:
Du gamla, Du fria, Du fjällhöga nord Du tysta, Du glädjerika sköna! Jag hälsar Dig, vänaste land uppå jord, Din sol, Din himmel, Dina ängder gröna.
Du tronar på minnen från fornstora dar, då ärat Ditt namn flög över jorden. Jag vet att Du är och Du blir vad Du var. Ja, jag vill leva, jag vill dö i Norden.
English translation:
Thou ancient, thou free, thou mountainous north Thou quiet, thou joyful [and] fair! I greet thee, most beautiful land upon earth, Thy sun, Thy sky, Thy meadows green.
Thou art enthroned upon memories of great olden days, When honoured thy name flew across the earth, I know that thou art and wilt remain what thou wast, Yes, I want to live, I want to die in the North.

Polish National Anthem - Mazurek Dąbrowskiego
Polish:
Jeszcze Polska nie zginęła, Kiedy my żyjemy. Co nam obca przemoc wzięła, Szablą odbierzemy.
Marsz, marsz, Dąbrowski, Z ziemi włoskiej do Polski. Za twoim przewodem Złączym się z narodem.
Przejdziem Wisłę, przejdziem Wartę, Będziem Polakami. Dał nam przykład Bonaparte, Jak zwyciężać mamy.
Marsz, marsz...
Marsz, marsz...
Już tam ojciec do swej Basi Mówi zapłakany: "Słuchaj jeno, pono nasi Biją w tarabany."
Marsz, marsz...
English:
Poland has not yet perished, So long as we still live. What the alien force has taken from us, We shall retrieve with a sabre.
March, march, Dąbrowski, From the Italian land to Poland. Under your command We shall rejoin the nation.
We'll cross the Vistula and the Warta, We shall be Polish. Bonaparte has given us the example Of how we should prevail.
March, march...
Like Czarniecki to Poznań After the Swedish occupation, To save our homeland, We shall return across the sea.
March, march...
A father, in tears, Says to his Basia: "Listen, our boys are said To be beating the tarabans."
March, march...

At one time Joaquin Sabina had a version:
Atrévete a soñar.

And did those feet in ancient time Walk upon England's mountains green: And was the holy Lamb of God, On England's pleasant pastures seen!
And did the Countenance Divine, Shine forth upon our clouded hills? And was Jerusalem builded here, Among these dark Satanic Mills?
Bring me my Bow of burning gold; Bring me my Arrows of desire: Bring me my Spear: O clouds unfold! Bring me my Chariot of fire!
I will not cease from Mental Fight, Nor shall my Sword sleep in my hand: Till we have built Jerusalem, In England's green & pleasant Land

HRVATSKA NACIONALNA HIMNA "LIJEPA NAŠA DOMOVINO"
CROATIAN NATIONAL ANTHEMS "OUR BEAUTIFUL HOMELAND"
Mila, kano si nam slavna, Mila si nam ti jedina. Mila, kuda si nam ravna, Mila, kuda si planina!
Teci Dravo, Savo teci, Nit' ti Dunav silu gubi, Sinje more svijetu reci, Da svoj narod Hrvat ljubi.
Dok mu njive sunce grije, Dok mu hrašće bura vije, Dok mu mrtve grobak krije, Dok mu živo srce bije!

Our Beautiful Homeland*
Our beautiful homeland, O so fearless and gracious. Our fathers' ancient glory, May you be blessed forever.
Dear, you are our only glory, Dear, you are our only one, Dear, we love your plains, Dear, we love your mountains.
Sava, Drava, keep on flowing, Danube, do not lose your vigour, Deep blue sea, tell the world, That a Croat loves his homeland.
Whilst his fields are kissed by sunshine, Whilst his oaks are whipped by wild winds, Whilst his dear ones go to heaven, Whilst his live heart beats.

Mila means Dear ? That means that Mila Jovovic is Dear Jovovic ? :)

Milla Jovovich is Ukrainian not Croatian, Alin. :)
Although the word might mean the same thing? Pretty sure Milla is short for Millica.

Well since everybody is posting their national anthem. Here goes the Chilean Anthem.
The National Anthem is also known as Cancion Nacional (National Song)
The version most often played it corresponds to Verse V of the full version and the chorus:
Pure, Chile, is your blue sky Pure breezes cross you as well
And your flower-embroidered fields Are the happy copy of Eden
Majestic is the white colored mountain
That was given to you as a bastion by the Lord That was given to you as a bastion by the Lord
And that sea that quietly washes your shore Promises you a future splendor
And that sea that quietly washes your shore Promises you a future splendor
Chorus
Sweet Fatherland accept the vows With which Chile swore at your altars
Either the tomb of the free you will be Or the refuge against oppression
Either the tomb of the free you will be Or the refuge against oppression
Either the tomb of the free you will be Or the refuge against oppression
Or the refuge against oppression
Or the refuge against oppression
