1 = 2
Yes 1 =2
X = Y so X-Y=0 Both sides times 2 ;) 2X-2Y=0 Lets say then 2X-2Y = X - Y , true because both sides are still 0 :) So 2(X-Y) = X - Y Now divide both sides by X-y! 2=1!!!!!!!!

This has been explained various times. You cannot divide by X-Y because it equals 0. You cannot divide by 0

-infinity + (+infinity) :2 = ?
This isnt a valid question. You cant use infinity as a real number ... mainly because it is not.

pps. it's also possible to prove that 1 = 2
that's not possible
Let me prove to you: 4 = 5
-20 = -20 16 - 36 = 25 - 45 4^2 - 9*4 = 5^2 - 9*5 4^2 - 9*4 + 81/4 = 5^2 - 9*5 + 81/4 (4 - 9/2)^2 = (5 - 9/2)^2 4 - 9/2 = 5 - 9/2 4 = 5
Go.

Well, clearly you cheated applying that square root there and ignoring the fact that square root[(4 - 9/2)^2] can be both -0.5 and +0.5, after you actually calculate this (4 - 9/2)^2 to be 0.25. :)
So, technically, what you did above is incorrect.

Hush Andrei. I wanted to see how much time passed before people figured that out :p
I should have probably elaborated it a bit more and put some more functions in there after that step...

Line 1 - correct Line 2 - correct Line 3 - correct Line 4 - correct Line 5 - correct Line 6 - incorrect. Square roots of numbers are not unique over R. Therefore you cannot say because two numbers squared give the same answer, those numbers must be the same - it's an incorrect statement.

4^2 - 9*4 = 5^2 - 9*5
This is incorrect because:
4^2 = 16 16 - 9 = 7 7*4 = 28
and
5^2 = 25 25-9 = 16 16*5 = 80
... or so half the ppl in this thread would say...
