Hes is very far behind what Mr. Claydon did in his rookies days. This one is just a normal guy that already learn which 2 or 3 atributes ur driver need to be better than the average to do podiums at rookie lvl even having less money than his group challengers.
So the point is, money can do you better, but the right driver is all u need to beat a guy like that, never on top 2000 OBR, hes just a normal guy, not amazing.
Instead conplaining and crying about a guy like that, find yourselves (who blames him the major factor for rookie guys leaving the game) a mentor or a team, im pretty sure there are plenty of people very easy to contact and talk, that will be pleased in helping guys like u determinated in winning.

I agree with Jon.
Like any game, there are multiple ways to play. Single player - you can defeat the hardest difficulty, get 100% completion, explore everything, get all the ahcievements etc. Multiplayer - do all of the above, get the highest rank, the best stats, the worst stats. And generally just play for fun, and no goals.
It's clear the manager in question isn't playing this game in the conventional way, but he is playing the game how he wants to, within the rules.
If he's going for all Rookie, all track, or just all the achievements, that's easiest to achieve in Rookie, then he's playing the game properly. If that wasn't what the admins wanted players to do, they wouldn't have added achievements. Achievement hunters are very common, this was inevitable.
Don't berate the guy because he's playing the game in a way that you're not. He's following the rules. I'm all for the discussion of discouraging this sort of play-style because it does impact how new players see the game, and for the debate about rule changes. But leave the guy alone. He's done nothing wrong.

If the problem with what he is doing if that he " discourages newbies" because he is too good, than thats a problem with any experience manager in rookie, not only him, and not because the chooses to stay in rookie. On my rookie group, Ive raced with guys who been to elite, and so are arguably are a lot more of a "disencourage" than our eternal rookie, since someone who been to elite is probably a lot better at gpro than someone who never raced above rookie
And he is not "abusing the system" because the is not getting any advantage doing this

yep
Is this, really. People are picking on a guy who just want to have his fun in rookie and is not breaking any rules or causing any harm

So ??? What is your point ??? He has 146 points. 96 above 50. He will get a $200k penalty per point over 50 points. So $9.2 million ATM plus whatever he scores in R17.
Don't worry about him & the way he wants to play the game. Concentrate on yourself & retaining Amateur.

That just shows that the Super Rookie penalty isn't big enough. IMO it should be double, to leave you with less than 10 million if you win every race. Perhaps even an exponential scale to protect newbies who accidentally made a few points over, and then leave you with absolutely no money if you win all races.

If the penalty was rolled on and added to over 2 seasons the effect would then properly penalise super rookies

BTW, sorry I was on my phone & made a typo. In the example I quoted above; Penalty is $19.2 million for being 96 points over 50 points, not $9.2 million . Bloody phone 😕
I like Matt's idea. Spread over two seasons seems fair to me.

For me, as an example of returning back to rookie next season, (which is very obvious with my -100m balance LOL) my main purpose is to intentionally fully train and develop my driver before moving into the front lines. But will definitely promote once my driver is at maximum. The penalty which is 200k per points above 50 is a big loss for me. Assuming I will end up at position 2 this final race, I will be penalized by 10.2million. Although I have another strategy to compensate the money disadvantage(thanks to our team), still that is a big loss already, I could have used it for my improvement.
(Well people might ask why did I scored that much then this season? Well the answer here is taking care of Average Points Per Race, the easiest way to score is in rookie group and comparing my actual pace to amateur which I think with my speed right now, I might just end up relegated immediately) So if people will say we need to double out the penalty then it will no longer be fun for players who are planning their drivers 6~10 seasons ahead starting from rookie.
Here is my suggestion:
Penalty(above 50 points) = 50k * X + 150k where X= the number of cumulative seasons in rookie group.
So here is example table using that formula:
Cum. R. Season | Penalty |
---|
1 | 200k | 2 | 250k | 3 | 300k | 4 | 350k | 5 | 400k |

Great idea! Let's just add the penalty from last season if you go over the limit again. If you're a Super Rookie for 5 seasons you start with like -70 million. Now that would properly take the incentive away.

Well maybe part of the problem is while there are a tonne of achievements for Rookie there is kinda of a mixed message :)
Also lets face it Super rookie's are not really a huge problem which demands as much attention as there always seems to be around it. I doubt there are even as many as most people seem to think there are :)

I never realized that a Super Rookie is a big issue (though I was a SP once when I got back from retirement). My point is the main goal is to promote from Rookie to Amateur no matter if you're in top 1 or 4 in the standings.
Plus the real challenge starts at Amateur group.

Quote ( Peter Willmore @ June 20th 2019,17:24:05 ) Well maybe part of the problem is while there are a tonne of achievements for Rookie there is kinda of a mixed message :) Agreed. I fixed this creating a new lower rookie tier and renaming current Rookie as Novice (achievements carry over), new rookie would have no achievements and be a slightly simplified version of the game (minus complex testing and S&F). #justsayin
Also still firmly believe Rookie and Ama groups should be 30 players per group rather than 40. Nothing is more demotivating that racing your best always finishing 3Xth. Sure they will finish 2Xth instead but being closer to points, not so deep in a huge red relegation zone on the standings could help keep newer players imo.
But nothing fixes most of the games issues as well as a new tier does, allows for a better mix of players and not such huge jumps in skill from R>A and A>P

What I think most people get sick of is being in the same group for seasons and seasons. When I was stuck in Ama-125 for 8 or however many seasons I had absolutely 0 motivation. Whereas when I was bouncing between rookie and amateur I was getting some satisfaction out of new opponents and surroundings every season. It may be different for others compared to me, but I feel when people slowly drift away from the game their recent history usually has a large number of seasons stuck in the same (usually amateur) group.

fun fact 5239 of the current 7500 odd active players have been playing at least 10 seasons , 7131 have been playing at least 3 seasons :)
A lot of people come and do maybe 1 race or maybe even not race at all because they sign up and are looking for something different(i.e a f1 game where you get race etc yourself or something with instant gratification) , nothing you can physically do about that.

Thing is, its not purely about keeping new players, it's about keeping players that have the interest. Some will sign up, race a few races, realise the long term commitment it takes, and decide it is not for them... thats cool.

Funny you don't say why it isn't broken/part of the problem?!? Very pithy though, A+
Are super rookies a good or a bad thing?
If good then remove super rookie penalty!
If bad then increase the super rookie penalty!
